Outdated Instagram Tips You SHOULD NOT Be Doing In 2023

By Corey C. Walker

As Instagram continues to evolve, it's important to stay up-to-date on the latest best practices for using the platform. While there may have been some tactics that worked well in the past, they may no longer be effective or even advisable in the current Instagram landscape. Here are a few outdated Instagram tactics that you should avoid in 2023:

  1. Buying fake followers: It may be tempting to try and boost your numbers by purchasing fake followers, but this is a practice that can actually hurt your account in the long run. Instagram is cracking down on fake followers and has even begun purging them from accounts. In addition, having a large number of fake followers can make your account seem inauthentic and can damage your engagement and overall credibility.

  2. Using automated liking or commenting tools: Automating your interactions on Instagram can be a quick way to get noticed, but it's not a sustainable or genuine way to grow your account. Instagram is cracking down on this type of behavior, and using automated tools can actually hurt your account's visibility in the long run.

  3. Posting excessively: It's important to stay active on Instagram, but posting too frequently can actually decrease your engagement. It's important to find the right balance and to only post high-quality content that your audience will value.

  4. Ignoring the algorithm: Instagram's algorithm is constantly changing, and it's important to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices. Ignoring the algorithm and continuing to do things the same way you always have can hurt your visibility on the platform.

  5. Only posting single photos: Instagram rewards users that try their latest technology. For instance, when Reels first came out, views were through the roof because they wanted to lure more users away from TikTok. Many of Instagram’s new features are a reaction to something another social media platform is doing, so they will give users that take advantage of those things a little “bump”. If you stick to only posting single photos, you’re missing out on opportunities to grow!

By avoiding these outdated Instagram tactics, you'll be able to effectively grow your account and reach a wider audience on the platform. Remember to focus on creating high-quality content, engaging with your audience, and staying up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices.
